Last week, I wanted something sweet. Badly. But instead of running over to Sonic, I decided to make a smoothie bowl instead.
I love how pink the pitaya (dragonfruit) makes the smoothie so I often play around with ingredients just to experiment with color and taste. But I really get with it due to its many benefits such as lowered cholesterol and full of fiber and potassium.
This smoothie actually made enough for two 1 cup bowls and 1 24 oz bottle. So, naturally, I enjoyed my bowl and was glad I had treats for later.
Pitaya Strawberry Smoothie Bowl
This is a good treat if you’re craving something sweet but don’t want to consume a lot of calories. (Calories are based on smoothie, not bowl.)
Smoothie
- 1.2 cups Almond Breeze Original Almond Milk (You can substitute with any other (almond) milk flavor if you prefer.)
- 9.0 oz chunks of dragonfruit (I prefer PitayaPlus.)
- 1.3 cups frozen whole strawberries
- 1 tbsp matcha powder
- .5 scoop Quest Protein Powder – Vanilla Milkshake (You can substitute with your favorite protein powder or none at all.)
- 1.0 tbsp Georgia Honey Farm – Wildflower Honey (This ingredient is for sweetness. Use as much as you need.)
Smoothie Bowl
- .3 cup Kroger Vitality Trail Mix
- .1 cup Kroger Chia Seeds
Smoothie
-
Grab all of the ingredients. Also, make sure you get a measuring cup and tablespoon measurer for accuracy.
-
Pour the almond milk, dragonfruit, strawberries, matcha powder, and protein powder into the blender.
-
Drizzle the honey over the other ingredients in the blender.
-
Press the crush or blend setting on your blender. Let it blend for about 5 minutes, then check for smoothness. If it is still lumpy, blend for 3 more minutes. Repeat if necessary.
-
Pour into your cup or bowl and enjoy!

If you’re making a smoothie bowl, sprinkle the trail mix and chia seeds over the smoothie and enjoy!
