There is not a ton to do and see in and near Melbourne Beach, Florida. That’s fine with me. If there is a quiet beach nearby with access to Wi-Fi, I’m good. But despite my affinity for sandy vacations, I need to eat. So when my mom and I took a trip to Melbourne Beach, we decided to stop into the nearest Squid Lips after reading the reviews on Yelp and reviewing their menu online.
We ventured there around Saturday afternoon. The restaurant wasn’t near peak hours as the majority of the inside seating was scarce. Outside, however, was busier. We sat inside and shortly afterwards, our waitress came over to take our drink orders. Though this trip happened a while ago, the two things I remember were that our waitress was very inattentive, but the food and drinks were good.
I ordered a pina colada and fish & Florida fried shrimp combo basket. My mom ordered a margarita and the same combo basket. We shared the conch appetizer.

It took forever for our food to arrive, so we ate a few slices of the complimentary loaf.

I mean…the food was decent. There wasn’t anything extraordinary about the fried fish, shrimp, nor fries. It was really a standard fried meal. Same for the drinks. The bartender wasn’t heavy-handed with the rum so the pina colada was good.

Would I return to Squid Lips? Sure. I’d just go with the hopes that I don’t get the same waitress and her disappearing act isn’t part of the company culture.
