Red Robin Gourmet Burgers: A Win-Win for Families

Jennifer sits across from her husband Matthew and seven-year-old daughter Madeline. She watches her daughter drink a milkshake and play a game on her iPhone as Matthew recalls the details of last week’s sales meeting. He ordered a glass of Jack and Coke that he sips in between sentences. Every forty-five seconds or so, she tunes her husband out and basks in the fact that she didn’t have to cook tonight.

At another table, a group of 14-year-olds in stained soccer uniforms eat from the basket of fries in front of them. Three adults sit at the end of the same table and begin to order their drinks. One wants a beer shake, another asks for a Shirley Temple, and the other adult requests a Sprite. They catch up on summer vacations and family stories as the kids do the same.

That’s basically the vibe I got when I visited Red Robin. I just wanted to run in and grab a basket of garlic fries and a glass of their freckled lemonade.

But I lowkey felt out of place. This restaurant was full of families. It’s a spot for parents to zone out and enjoy an adult beverage while their kids enjoy a burger and a shake.

Regardless, I enjoyed my meal (though my waitress wasn’t the best). But I probably won’t be returning until I have a seven-year-old of my own.red-robin-snellville-outside
